Tomatoes
Processed tomato products prevent heart disease/skin cancer. Tomatoes contain lycopene. Eating tomatoes every day lowers heart disease risk as much as 50%. This includes ketchup!
Lycopene makes some vegetables red in color. Lycopene is also found in watermelon, papaya, pink grapefruit, and guava. This potent antioxidant also lowers the risk for cancers of the prostate, cervix, skin, bladder, breast, lung, and digestive tract, and also protects skin from sun damage.
Lycopene is best absorbed cooked, not raw. The heat releases the lycopene for better absorbtion. 7-10 servings/wk.
