Back in the beginning of the internet, people didn't know there was such a thing as spam. So we freely gave out our email addresses and in many cases even had them posted on other sites such as forums. Then marketers realized they could cull these email addresses and spam you with their garbage. As well, programs were created that guessed common email address possibilities, and thus more spam.

As a result of this, I began receiving literally hundreds of spam mails a day mixed in with my valid emails. I heard about Cloudmark Spam Blocking
and decided to give it a try. Back then it was in beta mode. For several years I have continued to use Cloudmark and it has been a blessing to me, not having to muddle through the spam.

The way Cloudmark Spam Blocking works is that they block known spam mails. As a user, I also may click on a mail that is spam, and then it is also added to their list of potential spam mails. As other members block the same mail, it is then added to Cloudmark's spam mail list so that all members can have it blocked.

This year they've blocked 21,217 spam mails and I've added 595 spam mails to their listings. As members work together, we can all receive less and less spam.

Just try it and see! I've never had it block real mail. I used to check the blocked spam all the time to make sure, but now I don't anymore because I've grown to trust that they will only block valid spam.
